In this post, we will share step-by-step instructions to use copilot with Outlook and Teams. The two most valuable assets of Microsoft Office 365, which gradually boost productivity and collaboration for business and organizations.

What is Microsoft Copilot? – An Introduction

Copilot is a generative AI assistant built on OpenAI’s GPT model to enhance your daily tasks, such as email drafting, automation, and presentations. It seamlessly integrates with your organization’s data, Microsoft 365 apps, and Microsoft Graph. Plus, you have full control over your workflow—deciding what to keep, modify, or discard.

Requirement and Pre-requisites of Using MS Copilot

Using next-generation AI products helps keep your organization more active, attentive, and focused on work. However, there are certain requirements that must be met before using them.

  1. A valid subscription is required to use Copilot with Microsoft 365 apps. Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 licenses are commonly used by organizations, or you can add Copilot as an add-on to your existing plan.
  2. Use must have Entra id for authentication and access control.
  3. To manage OneDrive file and folder, user have an account for it.
  4. Copilot license much be assigned by the organization.
  5. Latest version is installed of Microsoft apps.

How to Enable Copilot in Microsoft 365?

Follow below steps to enable copilot in Microsoft 365 and assign desire user to add them.

  1. Open browser and sign-in M365 admin center.
  2. Go to Billing > Licenses, then make sure Microsoft 365 Copilot is added.
  3. Go to Users > Active Users
  4. Select the user you want to give access to, then assign a Copilot license.
  5. To make sure Copilot is enabled, go to Settings > Integrated Apps. Check if Copilot is activated for organization use.

Use Microsoft Copilot with Outlook

Outlook is the most prominent email management application, provided by Microsoft. Using copilot with it enables users to email drafting, suggestions, summarization, task and calendar integration and much more.

Here are the steps to enable copilot in Outlook:

  • Open Microsoft Outlook in your Desktop or Web.
  • Click New Email > search Copilot icon in the red ribbon. Also, you can check in All apps.

Use Microsoft Copilot with Teams

Teams is a collaboration app in Microsoft 365 via channels and groups. You can use copilot in Teams for conversations, meeting notes etc.

Here are the steps to enable copilot in Teams:

  • Login and open Teams
  • Go to chat, channel and meeting
  • Now check Copilot app and prompt like summarize the chat or whatever you need to.

Similarly, you can use copilot with Word to write something, with Excel to analyze, and with PowerPoint to make a presentation.
