The reason for this is due to a hidden file “dot-underscore” (or .DS_Store) in your disk/flash drive or memory card. This file usually stores the metadata that is created when moving data from one system to another or from one drive to another.
Now if you want to get rid of this problem, thank you that you have the facility of command tool called “dot_clean.”, Which you can remove MAC error 36. To use dot_clean, you have to point it in the directory, where MAC error code 36 is coming from or where this file is trying to copy.
How to fix Error 36 in Mac OS with dot_clean?
Before proceeding with the method below, it is necessary to check for corrupting the file or to ensure that it is error-free.
- Run dot_clean utility to remove the hidden files from the drive and memory card.
- Application >> Utilities >> Terminal >> Type: dot_clean then “a single space” and then drag your file/drive/memory card into terminal window.
- Press Enter button and wait until the process is over.
After that, you can try to copy the file into desired location or destination.
Alternative Method
This is an optional choice because in my case I solved error 37 using the dot_clean command in the terminal window. You can also try this method first.
Enble file permission
- Go >> Utilities >> Disk Utilities >> Select your drive >> click on Repair Permission
- Allow access for: All users
Now try to copy the target file to its destination point.
